After the success achieved using Shark technology launched for the cycle sector, the Spanish brand Galfer has now wowed us with the launch of the innovative \u00abDisc Shark\u00ae\u00bb rear brake disc for the dirt bike sector too (enduro and motocross).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The innovative design of the new \u00abDisc Shark\u00ae\u00bb and the high technology behind its development has been achieved in recent months in collaboration with the best Galfer riders on the international off-road competition scene. This has led to the creation of the revolutionary \u00abDisc Shark\u00ae\u00bb discs, capable of satisfying a hitherto unmet need in the rear brakes of dirt bikes, and able to perform at their best in hard, dry terrain conditions and high temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shark disc was designed with a clear purpose: to address the hitherto unmet challenges of overheating that rear brakes face in enduro races. <\/strong>Its exceptional thermal behaviour not only extends the life of the brake pads, it also prevents brake fluid from boiling, ensuring precise control at the pedal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u00abDisc Shark\u00ae\u00bb introduces optimised heat dissipation by increasing the contact area via small holes, fins and greater thickness<\/strong>. This development results in a drastic reduction in temperature during use, which allows the hydraulic fluid to maintain its stability.  This stability, in turn, contributes significantly to prolonging the life of the brake pads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its main features and advantages are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.- LOWER OPERATING TEMPERATURE<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Disc Shark\u00ae drastically reduces the operating temperature\u2014a 30%<\/strong> reduction compared to other high-end discs currently on the market\u2014and, moreover, it is manufactured as one piece for greater strength<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.- GREATER THICKNESS TO INCREASE THE THERMAL CAPACITY<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Disc Shark\u00ae is thicker<\/strong> than most of the high-end discs on the market, with the thickness increased up to 5 mm<\/strong> in order to boost thermal capacity and improve strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.- LONGER BRAKE PAD LIFE<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disc Shark\u00ae increases brake pad life by 25-40%<\/strong> under normal conditions. Disc durability is also increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed in collaboration with the reigning enduro world champion, Steve Holcombe<\/strong>, and used by him during the entire EnduroGP<\/strong> World Championship season, Galfer\u2019s new Disc Shark\u00ae already boasts a very respectable list of awards on its debut, with three world titles<\/strong>. The British riders from the Beta Factory Team, Steve Holcombe and Brad Freeman, won the EnduroGP, E2 and E3<\/strong> titles in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout this season, Honda rider Jordi Tixier<\/strong> used the rear Shark\u00ae disc during the Fast Cross event in Arsago Seprio, an international supercross event, on his Honda 500 2T. Also, in this 2023 competitive season, the Galfer Disc Shark\u00ae disc was tested by all the supported teams in the world enduro championship (Sherco Factory Team, Team TM Boano Factory), in the world motocross championship by the SM Action team of Italian rider Alberto Forato<\/strong>, and by some teams in supercross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new \u00abDisc Shark\u00ae\u00bb discs will be presented for the first time at the EICMA 2023 <\/strong>International Motorcycle Exhibition. They will have a RRP of \u20ac125 + VAT<\/strong> and will be available for the main Enduro and Motocross motorcycle models, namely the following brands: KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta and Sherco.<\/strong> They will also soon be available for the rest of the motorcycle brands on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
